Grandma’s Registry

Accessibility Statement

Effective: September 18, 2026 · Last updated: September 18, 2026

1. Our Commitment

Grandma’s Registry is committed to making our service usable by the widest possible audience, including people with visual, motor, hearing, or cognitive impairments. Many of our members are older adults, and family members or executors who interact with a registry through the memorialization process benefit from accessible design as well.

Accessibility is not a one-time project. We treat it as an ongoing design and engineering priority and review our interfaces against established standards as we build new features.

2. Conformance Status

Grandma’s Registry aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. WCAG 2.1 describes how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, and Level AA is the standard referenced by most accessibility laws.

We have not yet completed a formal third-party accessibility audit. We have built the service with WCAG 2.1 AA as our design target, and we will update this statement with our conformance status once an audit is complete.

3. Measures Taken in Design

Grandma’s Registry has been designed with the following accessibility goals:

  • Type, spacing, and color chosen with an older audience in mind — body copy at 16px or larger by default, generous line-height, and color combinations intended to meet WCAG contrast minimums
  • Interactive controls built as semantic HTML elements — buttons, links, form fields, dialogs — so keyboard and screen reader users get standard behavior
  • Visible labels on form fields, with associated label elements and clear error messaging
  • A visible focus indicator on interactive elements
  • Respect for the operating system’s reduce-motion preference, suppressing animations and transitions when it is set
  • Touch targets sized for people with limited fine motor control

These are design goals rather than audited results. If you encounter something that does not work as described, please tell us.

4. Known Limitations

We are aware of the following limitations:

  • No formal audit yet. We have not completed a third-party accessibility audit, so we cannot state a verified conformance level. Individual barriers may exist that we have not identified.
  • Sticker materials. QR stickers are not currently produced in a tactile or Braille variant. Members who would benefit from a tactile marker should contact us.
  • Member-uploaded photos. Photographs added to a registry by members may not carry descriptive alternative text.

If you encounter a barrier not listed here, please tell us — see Section 6.

5. Compatibility & Assistive Technology

Grandma’s Registry is designed to work with current versions of major browsers and operating-system assistive technologies, including:

  • VoiceOver on macOS and iOS/iPadOS
  • TalkBack on Android
  • NVDA and JAWS on Windows
  • System-level zoom, high-contrast modes, and reduce-motion preferences
  • Voice Control and Switch Control on iOS/iPadOS, and Voice Access on Android

Browsers more than three major versions out of date may not be fully supported.

6. Feedback & Contact

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of Grandma’s Registry. If you encounter a barrier or have a suggestion, contact us:
